2-11The subject of the research is the power thyristor converter of AC electric locomotives and its influence on the power factor of the locomotive. A new method for increasing the power factor of AC electric locomotives with thyristors power converters is proposed and analyzed. These electric locomotives include locomotives of the 2ES5K, VL85, EP1 series, etc. At the initial of the paper, the existing methods of increasing the power factor are briefly considered and their disadvantage in comparison with the proposed method is indicated. The drawback of existing converters is also analyzed, which consists in the presence of a thyristor opening delay at the beginning of the supply voltage half-cycle. The proposed method implies the modernization of the control circuits of the thyristors of the converter, due to which, at the beginning of the half-period, a control current is spontaneously created on the control electrode by means of the supply voltage. As a result, the thyristors open with a minimum delay after the start of the half-cycle. To verification the effectiveness of the proposed solutions, a computer simulation of the operation of the power circuit of an electric locomotive in the ORCAD program was carried out. Simulation was carried out for two options: a power circuit with standard converters and a power circuit with converters upgraded in accordance with the proposed method. During the simulation, the change in the value of the power factor of an electric locomotive was investigated at different currents of traction motors, zone and angle of regulation. Analysis of the oscillograms of converter various arms currents the revealed that when using the modernized converters, the moment of the end of the network switching occurs earlier than in the standard circuit. There is also no area with negative voltage at the output of the converter at the beginning of the half-cycle. At the end of the paper, the values of the electric locomotive power factor are given under various conditions. These results show that the use of the proposed method increases the power factor of an electric locomotive by an average of 1.2 percentage points. -

11-20The use of twelve-pulse rectifiers instead of six-pulse rectifiers leads to increased efficiency and efficiency of traction substations of the underground. On the basis of experimental research and analysis of circuit solutions, the conclusion is made about the advantage of a twelve-pulse rectifier circuit of a serial type over parallel-type circuits. The use of rectifiers with a parallel type circuit is possible only if there is an equalization reactor, without which technical and economic indicators are reduced. The introduction of the most rational twelve-pulse bridge rectifier schemes of the sequential type can be carried out by upgrading the installed equipment, or by industrial development by manufacturers of dry transformers with different typical power and rectifiers with tablet avalanche valves with coolers based on heat pipes. -

13-22The article is devoted to the research of the of wind load effect on the aerodynamic component to the movement of a freight train. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the impact of aerodynamic resistance on the consumption of fuel and energy resources (FER) on train traction. The article shows the high significance of this problem for Joint Stock Company Russian Railways (RZD JSC). The conclusions were drawn from the analysis of statistical data on the routes of locomotive drivers, working on the Pallasovka-Verkhniy Baskunchak section, which is undergone to wind loads. The SOLIDWORKS application was used to design a train with a locomotive and gondola cars coupled on an embankment, and SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation plug-in was used to simulate wind load, different in speed, varying from 0 to 90º. The values of the force of aerodynamic resistance to movement for the train as a whole and for each unit of the rolling stock separately were obtained. Using the methods of the theory of train traction, the influence of aerodynamic drag on fuel consumption for traction has been assessed. Based on the obtained values of the aerodynamic drag forces and patterns of air flow distribution, conclusions were drawn about the effect of loading a gondola car on an increase in traffic resistance. Conclusions are drawn about the effect of wind load on each unit of rolling stock in the train. It was found that when the wind is directed at an angle to the axis of the path, the force of the wind effect increases, compared with the case when the angle between the axis of the path and the velocity vector is zero. The experimental data on the increase in resistance from the wind load are confirmed by theoretical calculation, as well as practical processing of routes machinists. This article demonstrates the need for a separate regulation of fuel and energy resources in the event of wind loads, and may be useful in further detailed study of the aerodynamic drag of freight trains. -

22-31An analysis of the operation of electric locomotives on certain sections of railways shows that their power is used irrationally and electric locomotives are operated with low energy indicators, especially on long-distance flat stretches, which indicates that there are reserves for reducing the consumption of electric energy. The purpose of the work is to determine the optimal value of the rated power of electric locomotives by minimizing the electricity consumption on the site and to estimate the loss of electric energy from the non-optimal use of electric locomotives' power. To achieve this goal, an equation was drawn up for the dependence of the electric power consumption on the traction of an electric locomotive on the value of its rated power. To find the optimal value, this equation was differentiated by the value of the rated power of the electric locomotive and solved using the Cardano method. The expression allowed us to determine the minimum consumption of electric power is the rated power of the electric locomotive, depending on the required for a given traffic conditions and to evaluate the variation of energy consumption from non-optimal use of its structural capacity. The obtained equations allowed us to solve the problems of choosing the optimal value of the rated power of electric locomotives and evaluating the irrational consumption of electric energy from the non-optimal use of their power and can be used to determine the optimal parameters of electric locomotives. The conclusion is made about the importance of choosing the optimal power values of electric locomotives in order to obtain the highest technical and economic indicators during their operation. -

29-41The subject of the study is energy efficiency of traction power supply system and traction electric drive of electric locomotives. The article is scientifically based on the assessment of the energy efficiency of the mutually connected system of electric traction of trains. The study is aimed at solving problems on reduction of voltage losses in the contact system, active power in the contact system and traction electric drive of electric locomotives. This is possible due to the full and continuous use of the electrical potential of the power supply system. The research methodology is based on the law of energy preservation, mathematical modeling of the energy process and spectral analysis of voltage and current on the current collector of the electric locomotive. Analytically and by results of calculation it has been proved that significant losses of voltage, active power in the contact system, traction electric drive of electric locomotives are caused by unsatisfactory operation of power regulators and mismatch of voltage level in the contact power network, which is necessary for realization of heavy and high-speed driving of trains. In order to eliminate the negative effect of the inductive coupling of AC traction power supply on the energy efficiency and speed of trains, it is proposed to increase the voltage in the DC contact system and develop power regulators of electric locomotives. Mathematical model of DC electric traction system shows possibilities of reduction of electric energy losses and increase of movement speed due to application of electric semiconductor variator for matching of high voltage in contact system with voltage of traction electric motors of electric locomotive. -

35-47Electricity consumption for traction depends on a number of operational parameters, including the use of power of electric rolling stock. Due to the fact that the Russian Railways are characterized by pronounced uneven sections of track, which, along with the hilly-mountain and mountain profile and has flat stretches long-haul locomotives when operating on different difficulty sections of the road have a different load and therefore operated with a different energy indicators. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the energy performance of the electric locomotives for driving passenger trains on flat terrain and the possible ways to increase their energy efficiency. To achieve this goal was the analysis of passenger electric locomotives EP2K on a flat site Novosibirsk-Omsk, West-Siberian railway, the mean values of the speeds and masses of passenger trains have been calculated for capacity, utilization factor, power rating and efficiency of electric locomotives. 36-44The main direction of decrease in operational costs on draft of trains is reduction of expenses by fuel and energy resources, decrease in repair expenses at the expense of increase of indicators of operational reliability of power installations of a diesel rolling stock. It is obvious that the solution of these problems, now when operational profitability of diesels and their reliability are on a limit for the developed service conditions and production of diesel locomotives, it is possible at the expense of application of alternative types of the fuel which use will allow to raise both reliability of a diesel rolling stock, and its profitability under operating conditions. One of such alternative fuels can, is either natural gas, or household oil gas, that is a butane and propane mix in various ratios. In the present article on the basis of mathematical models possible ecological and economic efficiency of use of мix types of fuel on the example of the diesel 2A - 5D49 is shown. -

39-46The paper considers a traction power supply system with a voltage of 27,5 kV AC. In the MATLAB-Simulink software environment, a calculation model has been developed that takes into account the parameters of the external power supply system, the train schedule and the current consumption of the electric traction load in the inter-substation zone. It is shown that when choosing the power of the compensating device according to the average value of the reactive power consumed by one train, its passage through the inter-substation zone with direct current causes the same average power losses in the wires of the catenary as in the absence of a compensating device. An increase in the number of trains simultaneously located in the inter-substation zone with the same power of the compensating device entails a decrease in power losses in the wires of the catenary relative to a similar situation without a compensating device, however, the reactive power is only partially compensated. In the calculations of compensating devices, it is proposed to take into account the real existing train schedule, based on the probabilistic assessment of which the average daily reactive power consumed by the electric rolling stock is determined. In this case, it is necessary to take into account the power losses in the catenary. The use of unregulated compensating devices is advisable in areas with a constantly present load. When choosing step devices for transverse capacitive compensation, it is proposed to calculate their power based on a probabilistic analysis of the train traffic schedule and current consumption in the inter-substation zone. When the probability of the appearance of a certain number of trains exceeding 50%, the most effective are compensating devices, the power of which is selected on the basis of the average power consumption of all trains without taking into account the time of no load in the inter-substation zone, as well as two-stage devices, the power of the first stage of which is selected according to the current consumption of the two most likely occurrences of the number of trains. -

41-48The design of the hydrostatic fan drive of the cooling system of diesel engines of passenger locomotives of the TEP70 all series is considered. According to the results of the analysis of malfunctions of components and parts of the cooling system of locomotives, it showed that the main reasons for the failure of the hydrostatic fan drive are: the destruction of the housing and overheating of the bearings of the hydraulic motor, oil leakage at the installation site of the rubber diaphragm and loss of rigidity of the spring of the thermostat. The reasons for which are often the temperature conditions and the life of the parts. The article discusses the issues of improving the efficiency of the hydrostatic fan drive of the cooling system of diesel locomotives. An increase in the life of the hydraulic motor can be achieved by eliminating idle from its operating time, since it is connected by a rigid coupling with the diesel shafts. Ensuring the independence of the operation of the hydraulic motor relative to the diesel engine is possible by changing the design of the hydraulic fan drive, by installing a viscous coupling for the transfer torque of the shaft only during the period of necessary useful work, when a certain oil temperature is reached. To increase the reliability of the thermostat, the possibility of installing an additional rubber diaphragm with increased tension force, for trouble-free operation of the thermostat when the pressure reaches 12 MPa and when the oil viscosity decreases, is considered. A malfunction of the thermostat often leads to the most serious consequences, up to the failure of the locomotive, where the most common cause is the loss of rigidity of the spring of the thermostat due to the jamming of the spool, which affects the redirection of the oil flow, and there is a high probability of an increase in the temperature of oil or water in the system. The considered main malfunctions of the hydraulic fan drive and ways to solve them will significantly increase the reliability of its operation and the efficiency of passenger locomotives. -

43-54Electricity consumption for traction depends on a number of operational parameters, including the use of power of electric rolling stock. On Russian Railways there are flat areas of great extent, which operated the locomotives inefficient use of power and work modes with low energy performance. The aim of this work is to examine ways to improve the energy efficiency of passenger locomotives, such as the operation of electric rolling stock with rational values of power and number of axes for the modern passenger transport on the flat sections of the road long-haul and assess their energy performance. To achieve this goal was determined by the rational value of the power required for driving trains on this stretch of track with maximum speeds of 160 km/h, the calculations of the asynchronous traction motors obtained traction and power characteristics of electric locomotives with asynchronous traction drive, and a proposed comparison methodology, allowing to evaluate the difference of power consumption for traction of electric locomotives with asynchronous traction drive (with rational values of power and number of axes) currently operating a DC electric locomotive EP2K. On the basis of the conducted research it was concluded that there are reserves for improvement of energy efficiency of passenger locomotives on the flat sections of the road long-haul, such as operation of electric rolling stock with rational values of power and number of axes corresponding to the train weight, speed and track profile, which will significantly reduce the cost of electricity for traction of trains. -

55-65The article proposes an approach to improve the efficiency of using the automatic train guidance system based on instantaneous traction calculations using the actual movement parameters according to current measurements of on-board systems of electric locomotives. A critical analysis of scientific research on the improvement of auto-guidance systems for freight mainline electric locomotives based on modern technologies and machine learning algorithms, neural networks has been carried out. As a rule, all existing approaches to determining the optimal train driving modes are based on the application of traction calculation rules with the empirical setting of movement resistances and other factors without taking into account the real influence of the external environment. The results of comparison of traction calculations in the section of the West Siberian test site according to the current rules and in the KORTES program with the actual data of the on-board measurement systems of the 2ES6 series electric locomotive are presented. Based on the data deciphered from the recorders of motion parameters of electric locomotives of the 2ES6 series, the laws of control of the excitation current at rheostatic and running positions in the traction mode are investigated. The possibility of using the measured data of the on-board systems of electric locomotives to determine the parameters of the train, including the torque of the traction motors, the traction force of the electric locomotive sections, the actual total resistance to movement, inertial properties, etc., is substantiated. The calculation of these parameters for the traction mode is performed. The concept of equivalent mass is introduced and expressions are presented for determining the parameters of a train based on the equation of motion in the form of small increments of measured and calculated data. The obtained results of determining the parameters of the train based on instantaneous traction calculations and data of current measurements of the on-board systems of electric locomotives showed statistical stability and can be used in real time for automatic train guidance systems, providing an increase in the accuracy of determining control actions, taking into account the actual influence of the external environment and increasing the efficiency of using the automatic guidance system for freight trains. locomotives in general. -

60-70To increase the level of mechanization and automation of the assembly processes of rail and sleepers, link assembly lines are installed at the production bases of the track machine stations. In 2012, a semi-automatic link assembly line of KB03 brand was introduced on the Belarusian Railways for the assembly of a rail-and-sleep grid on reinforced concrete sleepers with an SB-3 intermediate fastening. Increasing the productivity of this line is a priority area in research, since in modern conditions there is an increase in the volume of overdue railway track repairs. In the course of the study, it was determined that the most rational solution for studying the work of a link assembly line and finding ways to increase the productivity of its work is to use simulation tools. After studying the technical and other accompanying documentation, a simulation model of the KB03 assembly line was developed. Then the developed model was validated, during which it was found trustworthy and suitable for experiments.
