2-14This article describes the standard field reduction system of traction electric motors of a contactor-resistors type using inductive shunts, its drawbacks are revealed. An improved field reduction system of traction electric motors of an AC locomotive based on IGBT transistors has been developed and proposed. The proposed solution will allow to exclude the copper-containing inductive shunt from the power circuit, while providing reliable protection in non-stationary operating modes of the electric locomotive, as well as reduce electricity consumption for train traction. To prove the advantages of the proposed the field reduction system of traction electric motors, a method of comparative analysis of electromagnetic processes of the mathematical model of the standard and proposed systems of the field reduction of traction electric motors of an electric locomotive obtained in the MatLab Simulink environment was applied. As a result, it is proved that the implementation of the field reduction systems of traction electric motors using IGBT transistors with the developed control algorithm provides an increase in the power factor of an electric locomotive on average by at least 4%, and also significantly reduces the ripple current of the traction electric motor. -

66-80This article provides a detailed analysis of relevant issues related to improving the efficiency of freight operations with railcars at freight railway stations and the adjacent access tracks. The main focus is on reducing excessive idle time of railcars, trucks, and other rolling stock by optimizing the technological sequence of loading and unloading processes, as well as by rationalizing the use of technical equipment. The study substantiates the need to equip freight handling areas with a sufficient number of modern loading and unloading machines to ensure timely handling of cargo arriving in railcars of various categories. In accordance with the actual intensity of cargo flows, the most heavily loaded fronts located on critical paths are identified, and their optimal distribution is proposed, taking into account the quantity, performance, and workload of the technical resources in use. This systematic approach creates real preconditions for timely completion of all freight operations within the established timeframes, minimizes the risk of delays, and ensures a steady workflow at the station. The article also suggests ways to further improve the organization of local station operations through the development of a rational and balanced daily schedule. The use of network planning methods makes it possible to accurately identify critical operations, delays in which may cause schedule disruptions, and ensures reliable coordination of all stages of railcar handling. As a result, comprehensive improvements in the efficiency of freight station management and its operational performance are achieved. To prevent the idle time of transport vehicles during the delivery and removal of these railcars, it is advisable to carry out this process using Microsoft Project software for better organization. -

78-88The paper considers the influence of the force characteristics of the damping apparatus on the value of the maximal longitudinal forces arising between the cars. Using the computer program MSC.ADAMS, we performed the simulation of shunting collisions of cars and train transient movement modes. The dependences of the maximal forces at cars' collision at various velocities on the shape of the elastic elements' force characteristics are determined. The operation of various shock dampers for the case of the train starting off electric braking and movement through the parts of the longitudinal track profile was estimated. It is shown that shock dampers with a rapidly growing line of load lead to the emergence and propagation of large shock forces along the train, while a slow growth of the force leads to their reduction due to the amplitude increase in elastic vibrations propagated along the train length . We propose to use high-energy-damping devices to reduce the longitudinal forces in the train, which are characterized by the force slew rate substantially depending on the compression velocity of the shock damper. -

124-135Resistive heating of the pantograph head due to the flow of traction current through the conductive elements of the upper node, has an uneven distribution along the frame structure and depends on the location of the contact wire on the insert. The aim of the work is to develop a mathematical model for calculating power losses in the pantograph panhead, allowing to estimate its value, taking into account the zigzag of the contact wire during the movement of electric rolling stock. The subject of the study is the pantograph panhead. The paper gives an example of calculating the frame skid of a pantograph equipped with carbon strips. Experimental studies of the current distribution over the shunts of the panhead depending on the position of the contact wire were carried out in February 2021 in the laboratory "Designs of contact networks, power lines and current collection devices" using a complex for testing current collection devices. The calculation of the heating power of the panhead is determined by the Joule-Lenz law. The results of the calculation showed that the maximum heating power is observed when the contact wire is in the middle of the panhead, while the places of the greatest losses located along its edges are above the places where the shunts are attached. The model makes it possible to obtain a functional dependence of the heating value along the panhead. The obtained results of the skid heating power distribution make it possible to supplement the complex model of the thermal state of the pantograph developed at the Omsk State Transport University with the participation of the authors of the article. The versatility of the developed model makes it possible to investigate various zigzags of the contact wire and evaluate the effect on the distribution of traction current along the panhead, depending on the location of the shunts and their number. -

137-146This article examines the enhancement of local control and monitoring systems for railway turnouts at stations based on wireless technologies. Instead of the traditional four-wire turnout control scheme, a wireless communication system utilizing a microcontroller and LoRa radio module is proposed. A custom-developed application installed on a tablet authenticates users via login credentials, password, and an NFC card. The application provides functionalities such as viewing the current status of the turnout, switching it to the required position, sending control commands, and recording and archiving operational data. Each command issued is saved both in the tablet’s internal storage (local database) and in a remote server database via the internet. For every command, parameters such as date, username, turnout number, status, and type of operation performed are logged. The newly developed scheme and mobile application enable wireless control of turnouts from the locomotive cabin, creating the possibility of performing shunting operations without the involvement of a shunting operator. The article presents the system’s operating algorithm, user interface, schematic solutions, and key functions of the tablet application. Furthermore, a structural diagram of the wireless turnout control system and a practical model based on an experimental prototype are provided. During the development of the software and hardware solutions, the requirements for ensuring traffic safety based on switch control schemes were thoroughly analyzed and taken into account through the following measures: prior to switching to local control, the section’s occupancy status is automatically verified; the switch position is visually indicated on the tablet; and all commands issued by the user are archived in both local and server databases. Furthermore, the ability to remotely control the switch enables safe operation without the involvement of a maneuvering agent. The proposed approach is considered technically suitable and practice-oriented for implementation in the automation of railway infrastructure.
