Using the liquid oil-containing waste products of railway depots for heat energy generation

The used liquid wash solutions utilization problem in railway depots of Russian Federation was overviewed. Postulated, that it is important to solve ecological and energy efficiency problem together on railways. Authors shows, that in this moment level of development and using resource saving technology in railway depots is too low. Economical, juridical and technological aspect of this problem was analyzed. Shows, that in present conditions we need to treat wash solutions in the closed water recycling process. Simultaneously waste products must be concentrated and then used, taking into consideration, that concentrated waste products contains flammable oil-products. Proposed to combust it and generate heat energy. Taking review of oil-containing waste products concentration and combustion methods. Shows, that heat energy can be used for grows up energy efficiency of railway depots. Described theoretical basics, results of carried experiments, and economic effect was estimated. It`s proved, that proposed technology is useful and can be realized. Preferred construction of washing machines and waste treatment facilities are recommended. Ways of next research work are selected and proved.

Improving the methodology of control the locomotives use efficiency to the train traction

With the advent of new series of locomotives, the development of heavy freight trains, the increasing speeds of passenger trains, the introduction of innovative technical means and technologies, the degree of influence of various indicators on energy consumption is redistributed. The aim of the article is to develop a methodology for monitoring the efficiency of locomotives when changing the set of operational factors. This will make it possible to more accurately determine the estimated change in specific energy consumption, which in turn will increase the objectivity of the assessment of the causes of changes in the energy intensity of transport and will help to reduce energy losses.

Prediction of energy efficiency indicator for locomotives

A significant share of JSCo «Russian Railways» expenses falls on the purchase of diesel fuel and electric power for train traction. In this connection, the task of ensuring rational consumption of energy resources acquires special importance. Its solution is impossible without a well-functioning system for planning and forecasting the energy efficiency of locomotives. The article proposes a method for predicting specific energy consumption (SEC) for train traction, based on determining predicted values of transportation work and fuel and energy resources consumption by extrapolating time series, which consists in spreading the trends in changes in the values established in the past to the future period. A distinctive features of the developed method is the determination of seasonality indices and consideration of the rhythm of changes in the indicators. In cases where the forecast period includes months of the first or fourth quarters, a formula is proposed for determining the forecast value of the SEC, taking into account the influence of the atmospheric air temperature. The calculations performed showed that the application of the proposed method for structural divisions with different volume and nature of transportation work and the level of the SEC ensures a sufficiently high accuracy of train traction energy cost forecasting. The method is included in the Methodology for Analysis and Prediction of Fuel and Energy Resources Consumption for Traction of Trains developed by OmGUPS and implemented in the railroad network of the Russian Federation.

Application of methodology of generalized technical and economic indicators of diesels work in operation

This article is about technical and economic indicators of the operation of freight locomotives at the ranges of Russian Railways. The most attention is paid to such indicators as train mass, fuel consumption, technical and district speed. There is an analysis of technical and economic indicators during the period from 2010 till 2019. Based on the analysis of technical and economic indicators in the real mode of operation of freight diesel locomotives it's presented calculation of dimensionless train mass coefficients, fuel efficient use, district and technical speeds. The presented calculation fully characterizes as well using degree of technical and economic characteristics of diesel locomotives in of power and time as the effectiveness of system organization in their operation. To know the operating modes of diesel-generator sets of diesel locomotives in train work is source material for the analysis of technical characteristics of locomotive power equipment and making recommendations on their optimization in relation to operating conditions

Treatment of plasma with a low level of reactive coal

Coal is one of the main sources of energy of the 21st century. New plasma-energy technologies are being developed to improve the efficiency of coal combustion. Today, pulverized coal CHP plants worldwide generate more than 50% of electric and thermal energy, the share of coal in the fuel balance of the CHP is growing. At the same time, the quality of coal is reduced. Traditional methods of reducing fuel oil consumption at thermal power plants (increasing the dispersion of the grinding dust, high preheating of the air mixture and secondary air, etc.) used to improve fuel ignition and burning stabilization, have exhausted themselves, therefore a radical increase in fuel efficiency can only be associated with the development and development of completely new technologies. Plasma technology seems to be the most promising among the alternative technologies available to solve the above problems. This technology provides a significant increase in economic efficiency and environmental performance of power plants operating on solid fuel.

On the question of determining the energyconsumption of electric heating units, not equipped with metering devices

The article deals with the consumption of fuel and energy resources, including a significant proportion of these resources spent on the organization of electric heating (773.7 million kWh). It was noted that until recently in the reporting of JSC « Russian Railways » there were two different approaches in determining the actual volume of electric energy consumed by electric heating equipment, not equipped with individual metering devices based on the calculation-analytical and calculation-statistical methods. It was found that the results of calculations by both methods have a significant deviation between them (up to 100 %). The purpose of the study is to determine a unified approach that allows to accurately record the consumption of electric energy in these conditions. The characteristic features of each of the applied methods were analyzed, comparative studies on a number of objects of four Railways (October, Sverdlovsk, South Ural, East Siberian), characterized by different climatic characteristics were carried out. At the same time, studies were carried out on the applicability in practice for the regulation of fuel and energy resources of the automated system « Stationary energy » . According to the research results, the value of the deviation of the actual consumption of electric energy from the calculated for both applied methods is shown. A method for determining the actual consumption of electric energy for heating on the basis of a preliminary calculation of the allowable volume consumption of thermal energy with subsequent conversion into electrical energy is proposed and confirmed by tests. The results obtained were adopted when updating the « Methods of analysis and planning of electricity consumption for non-traction needs in JSC « Russian Railways » , approved by the order of JSC « Russian Railways » from 22.08.2018 № 1866p in terms of determining the resource requirements for heating. Based on the results, changes were made to the procedure for filling in the data in the corporate management reporting of EO-10U.
