Principles of classification of influencing factors on the energy consumption of electric rolling stock

The known approaches to the classification of factors affecting the energy consumption of the train are considered, and their main disadvantages are identified. The validity of existing classification methods and the completeness of accounting for factors affecting energy consumption are evaluated. It is shown that none of the known approaches to classification gives a complete picture of all the influencing factors and the degree of their influence on the energy consumption of the train, since it does not fully take into account the physical nature of the individual components and the overall power consumption for traction. Based on the analysis of the energy balance of the train articulated principles and criteria for the classification of factors influencing energy consumption, considers the interconversion of different forms of energy and describe their energy diagrams in the different modes of the train movement. The analysis made it possible to identify the factors that affect the power consumption of the train in all modes of movement, and evaluate them according to various criteria. A classification of factors affecting the train's electricity consumption is proposed, which allows us to justify the correct method of accounting for each factor, develop measures to reduce the influence of individual factors on energy consumption, improve the system of analysis, rationing and forecasting of electricity consumption for train traction, and competently solve other problems of electric traction energy.

Optimal organization of the station's daily planning and graphic work based on network diagrams

This article provides a detailed analysis of relevant issues related to improving the efficiency of freight operations with railcars at freight railway stations and the adjacent access tracks. The main focus is on reducing excessive idle time of railcars, trucks, and other rolling stock by optimizing the technological sequence of loading and unloading processes, as well as by rationalizing the use of technical equipment. The study substantiates the need to equip freight handling areas with a sufficient number of modern loading and unloading machines to ensure timely handling of cargo arriving in railcars of various categories. In accordance with the actual intensity of cargo flows, the most heavily loaded fronts located on critical paths are identified, and their optimal distribution is proposed, taking into account the quantity, performance, and workload of the technical resources in use. This systematic approach creates real preconditions for timely completion of all freight operations within the established timeframes, minimizes the risk of delays, and ensures a steady workflow at the station. The article also suggests ways to further improve the organization of local station operations through the development of a rational and balanced daily schedule. The use of network planning methods makes it possible to accurately identify critical operations, delays in which may cause schedule disruptions, and ensures reliable coordination of all stages of railcar handling. As a result, comprehensive improvements in the efficiency of freight station management and its operational performance are achieved. To prevent the idle time of transport vehicles during the delivery and removal of these railcars, it is advisable to carry out this process using Microsoft Project software for better organization.

Study of the effect of harmonic interference from a high voltage power line on the operation of a non-linear receiving device for continuous automatic locomotive signalling with a correlation decoder

This paper considers a continuous automatic locomotive signalling (CALS) receiver with a correlation decoder. The aim of this paper is to investigate the influence of harmonic interference from a high-voltage power line on the operation of a non-linear CALS receiver with a correlation decoder. The experimental study of the quality of operation of a non-linear CALS receiver with a correlation decoder under the influence of harmonic interference from high-voltage power lines was carried out using the simulation method. Simulation models of interference from a high-voltage power line (VPL), a receiver and a correlation decoder of the CALS channel were used in the study. The analysis of oscillograms obtained as a result of the study has shown that the correlation decoder has a number of features due to the algorithm of its functioning. The correlation decoder more confidently accepts code combinations with a duration of 1.6s (generated by the code track transmitter of CTT-5 type), than the duration of 1.86s (generated by the code track transmitter CTT-7). This is expressed in a shorter time interval of disturbance of the CALS non-linear receiving device. At decoding of the code combination (CC) with the duration of both 1.6 s and 1.86 s the situation of short-term decoding of the more permissive CC «Y» instead of «RY» was observed. However, the duration of these situations did not exceed two code cycles and would not have caused a more permissive light to appear at the locomotive traffic light. In general, the experiments have shown that the CALS CC correlation decoding algorithm needs improvement for more confident decoding of CCs produced by a code track transmitter of the CTT-7 type(1.86 s).

Rectifier-inverter converter of an electric locomotive based on igbt transistors as a way to increase the capacity of railway sections

The purpose of this article is to analyze the voltage drop in the contact network caused by poor-quality operation of an alternating current electric locomotive when passing heavy trains. Heavy-haul traffic is considered today as a valid and necessary tool for increasing weight norms and increasing the throughput of railway sections. The article provides statistics on the passage of heavy and connected trains on the Krasnoyarsk railway for 2019 and 2020. For the effective use of heavy traffic, it is necessary to solve a number of problems, one of which is to reduce the voltage in the overhead network when passing heavy trains, this negatively affects the speed of the train along the haul, the conditions for cooling the power equipment of the electric locomotive deteriorate, etc. As a result of the analysis of the operation of the thyristor rectifier-inverter converter, a number of disadvantages were revealed. The reason for the low power factor of the electric locomotive lies in the use of an outdated element base based on thyristors, their closure is carried out only in the next voltage half-cycle, long-term switching and a large opening angle of thyristors leads to a significant reactive current in the contact network. Based on the analysis the voltage losses at the current collector, it was concluded that it is necessary to reduce the duration of the switching process of the arms of the rectifier-inverter converter, in which a short circuit occurs in the secondary winding of the traction transformer. An alternative version of the converter based on fully controlled semiconductor devices - IGBT transistors is proposed. The ability to open and close at any time of such elements allows you to minimize the phase angle and increase the power factor. Due to the almost instantaneous switching of transistors, the distortion in the contact network is minimized.

Mathematical methods for reliability verification of data on reliability of locomotives, their operation and maintenance

In the practice of railway transport and the locomotive complex, the average statistical data used in practice are not homogeneous, which is usually called “average temperature in the hospital” in the literature. The homogeneity of data is determined by their unimodality, i.e. the presence of one process in the sample. Unsuccessful sampling leads to its bimodality and even multimodality. It is proposed to check for unimodality of the initial data using the consequence of the law of large numbers, according to which, with an increase in the number of data, homogeneous samples tend to one of the distribution laws of a random variable: normal, exponential, lognormal, or another known law. Therefore, any unimodal sample must meet the goodness-of-fit test, which the article proposes to use the Pearson test (“chi-square”, χ2). The unimodality of the data is proposed to be estimated through the probability of compliance with the law of distribution of a random variable chosen for consideration, considering the probability of more than 0.3 (30%) to be sufficient. On the example of locomotive operation data and on-board microprocessor systems data, data are shown that cannot really be unimodal, but there is data that requires changing the sampling rules to achieve unimodality. For example, when considering the average daily runs of locomotives by series at specific home depots with participation in one type of traffic (main traffic, shunting or switching work), unimodality is achieved. An attempt to enlarge the data (take several series, several polygons, etc.) leads to the loss of unimodality. The article considers the unimodality of these on-board microprocessor control systems MSU-TP for diesel locomotives of the 2TE116U series. The expected operating time for the positions of the driver's controller turned out to be multimodal data. Unexpectedly, the current of the traction motors turned out to be unimodal, regardless of the driving position of the driver's controller.

Intelligent traffic safety management at public railway crossings

In connection with the traceable global trend of increasing average speeds in railway transport, more and more often they are trying to exclude the intersection of railways and roads. However, in the Russian Federation, only 40 % of railway crossings are located near settlements or on busy roads, the construction of two-level interchanges at the remaining crossings is not economically profitable, and sometimes difficult due to climatic conditions. Therefore, a different approach is needed to prevent incidents and accidents at crossings. At the same time, the need for an individual construction of a security strategy for each object of the transport infrastructure should be taken into account. At present, in the existing information systems of the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as the owners of the railway infrastructure, a fairly large amount of statistical information has been accumulated on incidents and traffic accidents at railway crossings. But most often these data are used for certificates containing absolute values in each of the departments. At the same time, the relationships between these disparate sources of information are not comprehensively analyzed. Modern technologies for creating intelligent information systems based on existing large databases and tools such as machine learning, intelligent search, neural networks make it possible to build an expert system based on a specific set of rules that can analyze the situation at a particular crossing, assess the likelihood of emergency situations and suggest ways to prevent them. In addition, it is important to analyze not only the infrastructure, but also specific units of vehicles and the accident-free performance of the drivers driving them. This article discusses the prerequisites and technology for building a knowledge base of an intelligent system used to analyze the level of safety at railway crossings, which will allow us to combine currently information about the factors accumulated in various systems that affect traffic safety at crossings and based on the accumulation of knowledge give a forecast of the development of the situation at each specific object.

Contact network protection settings methodology dc in formed mode using short-cutter kzks-3,3

The purpose of the article is to consider the issue of calculating and selecting the settings for the operation of the short-circuit switch KZKS-3.3 when organizing the protection of a direct current contact network in emergency mode. The shorting circuit is measured by the voltage module. When the triggering conditions are met, it is the voltage module that collects the circuit to turn on the switching device of the short circuit. The important question is to choose the optimal installation location of the short-circuit switches and the voltage trip settings. The initial information necessary for the calculation of the settings is determined. The calculation procedure and equivalent circuits for the most common power supply circuits and sectioning of the contact network are given. For current protection of high-speed circuit-breaker feeders, contact formulas are given for determining the sensitivity zones. To select the optimal installation location of the short-circuit and select the voltage pick-up setting from the allowable range, a potential diagram of the contact network section is constructed. The analysis based on the potential diagram allows us to conclude that the organization of protection of the contact network in emergency mode using short circuits is effective.

The utilization of secondary energy resources during the conduct of rheostat trials

Rheostat trials must be carried out after repairing of a diesel locomotive. As a rheostat it is used a complex of equipment and it is taken a separate building for the staff, which must be situated at a set distance from office buildings. In order to keep the building for the staff warm central heating is used. The net cost is extremely high and transit heat losses are often comparable with effective consumption of the heated building. In this work the possibility to utilize the secondary energy resources for heating the stations is considered where rheostat trials are supposed to be carried out. It is noticed in separate depots that the measures of heat energy utilization from load rheostats have already been applied, but they are not widespread. There are external restrictive factors which limit the adoption of heat-recovery installations and also technical and organizational factors as well. There have been proposed principal measures which could be considered in case of the adoption of heat-recovery installations. Calculations are performed by heat energy generation by a rheostat during typical trials of diesel locomotives TEM2 and heat quantity of heat-transfer agent in typical load water rheostats. It is proposed that the plan to utilize secondary energy resources in low temperature heating systems will be effective. It is also mentioned the utilization of low temperature heating systems has many advantages. The required heat energy generation of heat-recovery installation for each month of the year have been calculated, and Station Omsk depot is one of the example where these calculations have been performed. It is noted required quantity of trials for heat loss compensation coincide with station operating schedule of rheostat trials in the majority of depots and would like to apply the indicated trial method. The calculated economical cost of these measures along with capital costs for the speed of completing the building should be considered when calculating the total cost of the station over the open rheostat tank.

Harmonization of criteria and input data sets when creating a model of optimal container handling at the terminal

This study focuses on the harmonized definition of sets of source data and criteria for creating an optimal container handling model at a terminal of type «dry port» served by rail and road transport. The model development process should consider priority in managing rail and road transport, balancing their interests and the cost-benefit relationship between cargo equipment and inactivity of vehicles and/or containers, depending on the technology and speed of cargo handling. The article noted that in the part of setting the task, many authors have limited approaches to the concept of «optimal terminal operating model» and the applied criteria of optimality. The study proposes a set of initial data intended to create an optimal work model, which includes data on the characteristics of the container flow, terminal, transport and handling mechanisms and processing. When creating the optimal terminal operation model, it is possible to evaluate the efficiency of the process in isolation or in a complex at once in several aspects depending on the purpose of the simulation. The valuation can be performed using a value criterion (cost of processing TEU), a criterion in terms of the natural value (maximum amount of processing to be realized, duration of processing) or an integral criterion (natural-cost value). The work has shown that the completeness of the sets of source data and the determination of calculation parameters in several possible units of measurement make the model adaptive for various modeling tasks and application of different criteria of optimality. For data that is dynamic by nature, the procedure for automated retrieval from existing information management systems significantly accelerates and simplifies calculation, allowing its use for operational planning and management purposes.
