66-73In the practice of railway transport and the locomotive complex, the average statistical data used in practice are not homogeneous, which is usually called “average temperature in the hospital” in the literature. The homogeneity of data is determined by their unimodality, i.e. the presence of one process in the sample. Unsuccessful sampling leads to its bimodality and even multimodality. It is proposed to check for unimodality of the initial data using the consequence of the law of large numbers, according to which, with an increase in the number of data, homogeneous samples tend to one of the distribution laws of a random variable: normal, exponential, lognormal, or another known law. Therefore, any unimodal sample must meet the goodness-of-fit test, which the article proposes to use the Pearson test (“chi-square”, χ2). The unimodality of the data is proposed to be estimated through the probability of compliance with the law of distribution of a random variable chosen for consideration, considering the probability of more than 0.3 (30%) to be sufficient. On the example of locomotive operation data and on-board microprocessor systems data, data are shown that cannot really be unimodal, but there is data that requires changing the sampling rules to achieve unimodality. For example, when considering the average daily runs of locomotives by series at specific home depots with participation in one type of traffic (main traffic, shunting or switching work), unimodality is achieved. An attempt to enlarge the data (take several series, several polygons, etc.) leads to the loss of unimodality. The article considers the unimodality of these on-board microprocessor control systems MSU-TP for diesel locomotives of the 2TE116U series. The expected operating time for the positions of the driver's controller turned out to be multimodal data. Unexpectedly, the current of the traction motors turned out to be unimodal, regardless of the driving position of the driver's controller. -

67-74In connection with the traceable global trend of increasing average speeds in railway transport, more and more often they are trying to exclude the intersection of railways and roads. However, in the Russian Federation, only 40 % of railway crossings are located near settlements or on busy roads, the construction of two-level interchanges at the remaining crossings is not economically profitable, and sometimes difficult due to climatic conditions. Therefore, a different approach is needed to prevent incidents and accidents at crossings. At the same time, the need for an individual construction of a security strategy for each object of the transport infrastructure should be taken into account. At present, in the existing information systems of the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as the owners of the railway infrastructure, a fairly large amount of statistical information has been accumulated on incidents and traffic accidents at railway crossings. But most often these data are used for certificates containing absolute values in each of the departments. At the same time, the relationships between these disparate sources of information are not comprehensively analyzed. Modern technologies for creating intelligent information systems based on existing large databases and tools such as machine learning, intelligent search, neural networks make it possible to build an expert system based on a specific set of rules that can analyze the situation at a particular crossing, assess the likelihood of emergency situations and suggest ways to prevent them. In addition, it is important to analyze not only the infrastructure, but also specific units of vehicles and the accident-free performance of the drivers driving them. This article discusses the prerequisites and technology for building a knowledge base of an intelligent system used to analyze the level of safety at railway crossings, which will allow us to combine currently information about the factors accumulated in various systems that affect traffic safety at crossings and based on the accumulation of knowledge give a forecast of the development of the situation at each specific object. -

68-78The purpose of the article is to consider the issue of calculating and selecting the settings for the operation of the short-circuit switch KZKS-3.3 when organizing the protection of a direct current contact network in emergency mode. The shorting circuit is measured by the voltage module. When the triggering conditions are met, it is the voltage module that collects the circuit to turn on the switching device of the short circuit. The important question is to choose the optimal installation location of the short-circuit switches and the voltage trip settings. The initial information necessary for the calculation of the settings is determined. The calculation procedure and equivalent circuits for the most common power supply circuits and sectioning of the contact network are given. For current protection of high-speed circuit-breaker feeders, contact formulas are given for determining the sensitivity zones. To select the optimal installation location of the short-circuit and select the voltage pick-up setting from the allowable range, a potential diagram of the contact network section is constructed. The analysis based on the potential diagram allows us to conclude that the organization of protection of the contact network in emergency mode using short circuits is effective. -

68-72Rheostat trials must be carried out after repairing of a diesel locomotive. As a rheostat it is used a complex of equipment and it is taken a separate building for the staff, which must be situated at a set distance from office buildings. In order to keep the building for the staff warm central heating is used. The net cost is extremely high and transit heat losses are often comparable with effective consumption of the heated building. In this work the possibility to utilize the secondary energy resources for heating the stations is considered where rheostat trials are supposed to be carried out. It is noticed in separate depots that the measures of heat energy utilization from load rheostats have already been applied, but they are not widespread. There are external restrictive factors which limit the adoption of heat-recovery installations and also technical and organizational factors as well. There have been proposed principal measures which could be considered in case of the adoption of heat-recovery installations. Calculations are performed by heat energy generation by a rheostat during typical trials of diesel locomotives TEM2 and heat quantity of heat-transfer agent in typical load water rheostats. It is proposed that the plan to utilize secondary energy resources in low temperature heating systems will be effective. It is also mentioned the utilization of low temperature heating systems has many advantages. The required heat energy generation of heat-recovery installation for each month of the year have been calculated, and Station Omsk depot is one of the example where these calculations have been performed. It is noted required quantity of trials for heat loss compensation coincide with station operating schedule of rheostat trials in the majority of depots and would like to apply the indicated trial method. The calculated economical cost of these measures along with capital costs for the speed of completing the building should be considered when calculating the total cost of the station over the open rheostat tank. -

69-77The method of determining the durability indicators of wheel pairs of locomotives is considered on the example of diesel locomotives of the 2TE25KM series operated on the Volga railway. For this purpose, the 90% resource of the wheel pairs of the studied series of locomotives was determined, and it was compared with the accepted standard indicator. In addition, a controlled parameter of the wheelset is selected, limiting the reliability of this node. To conduct the study, methods of mathematical statistics and probability theory were used, in particular, the Laplace distribution function, the Student's criterion, as well as the results of calculations of the dependencies of the mean value and the standard deviation of the controlled parameters, the initial values of developments and operating time corresponding to the probability of failure 0.5. In this study, a mathematical model for assessing the durability of wheelsets from the point of view of reliability theory was developed. The evaluation of the durability indicators of the wheelset elements was carried out on the basis of the type of random variable distribution law with its parameters obtained on a computer and adopted according to the Pearson criterion. As a result of the calculations, 90% of the life of the wheelset was obtained according to two controlled parameters, which amounted to 476.6 thousand km for the thickness of the bandage, and 282.6 thousand km for the thickness of the ridge. The results obtained were compared with the values adopted in the Technical Specifications for this series of locomotives (800 thousand km). km), as well as with statistical data on the values of controlled parameters obtained during processing and analysis - 240 thousand km. Due to the fact that in operation the average life of the wheelset is determined by a larger number of controlled parameters, taking into account unscheduled repairs, and in this study - only on the basis of the thickness of the bandage and the ridge, it is not possible to talk about full compliance with the calculated and actual data. According to the results of calculations, the limiting reliability of the wheelset is such a controlled parameter as the thickness of the ridge. For a more accurate assessment of the durability of wheelsets, it should also be taken into account that the intensity of wear of rolling stock equipment is affected by specific operating conditions, in this regard, inter-repair runs should be adjusted taking into account the influence of external factors during operation. In order to fully assess the durability of wheelsets in the future, it is necessary to take into account additional factors, in addition to those that affect the parametric change of random variables, as well as the fact that takes into account the monitoring and analysis of all controlled parameters of this node during the operation of locomotives. -

70-78Transfer of railway lines on the high-speed movement demands strengthening of traction power supply system.Such strengthening can be carried out on the basis of symmetrizing transformers and coaxial cables use.Means of computer modeling of such networks which can be realized on the basis of the methods developed at Irkutsk state transport university are necessary for the solution of practical application of traction networks with the symmetrizing transformers and coaxial cables.Complex technical solution including both from the designated ways of traction power supply strengthening is of interest. Strengthening provides the additional effects consisting in improvement of electric power quality in the feeding high-voltage networks and not traction consumers' power supply, and also in decrease in losses of the electric power and energy efficiency increase. Results of computer modeling of 2х25 kV traction power supply systems with Woodbridge symmetrizing transformers and coaxial cables are given.Modeling was carried out for three options: traditional scheme of 2х25 kV traction network; traction power supply system equipped with the modified Woodbridge transformers; the complex technical solution which is included the symmetrizing transformers and coaxial cables. Modeling results have allowed the following conclusions: application of coaxial cables promotes increase of contact net voltage; due to use of Woodbridge modified transformers it is possible to lower significantly negative sequence asymmetry factor on high voltage buses of traction substations; the greatest effect takes place at complex use of the symmetrizing transformers and coaxial cables. -

70-80The cranking of the bandages in service leads to an earlier replacement of the bandage than the pawned resource, which entails both an increase in maintenance costs and a long, simple locomotive for repair. The article shows the main factors that have a significant effect on the strength of the «wheel center - bandage» connection. Particular attention is paid to the mechanical properties of materials. The calculation of the reduction of the contact pressure from the heating of the bandage has been carried out, both for the new and for the worn out. New materials for manufacturing of bandage wheels are considered. It was found that the hardness of the materials can have a significant effect on the strength of the bandage fit to the wheel center. Preliminary calculations of the influence of hardness on the strength of the joint are carried out.The analysis of the influence of the mechanical properties of banding wheel materials on the strength of the joint can be used in the improvement of new materials in the manufacture of bandage wheels and in the development of technology for the formation of wheel sets of locomotives, which in turn will improve the efficiency of wheel sets of lo-comotives. -

70-76Development of innovative methods and hardware gives additional opportunities for the solution of various tasks. For example, innovations allow increasing safety in places of crossing highways and railroads by means of detection methods of objects in the required control zone. The big risk of emergencies in places as a railway crossing is caused by a high speed and the inertial movement of the train. In this connection, there is no possibility of timely braking of the train and prevention of collision with an obstacle. At the present time, the biggest percent of accident rate belongs to uncontrollable railway crossings. On such railway crossings completely are absent the blocking means or the warning technical tools. Controlled railway crossings are equipped with the blocking means for the automobiles. Also, they are equipped with the systems of video supervision. But the current systems of video supervision have no function of informing the driver of the train in an emergency. Therefore, to priorities belongs development of technical requirements for a hardware and software system. The automatic analysis of a dynamic situation in borders of a railway crossing, transfer to the driver of the approaching train of the required information belongs to priorities too. This work describes briefly main algorithms of computer vision which allow distinguishing any object on a railway crossing. The example of algorithmic modeling of detection of contours and allocation of a background on video has been considered in this work. Received results led to the conclusion about a necessary adaptation of modern computer vision algorithms for the solution of a detection problem of various objects with the required accuracy and in various working conditions. -

71-79According to electric calculations, the overhead system and power lines being the part of the railway power supply are distributed parameters circuits. Wave processes in the overhead system have a negative impact on the power supply lines, laid in the vicinity of the railway, and increase the power losses in the traction power supply system. For the study of wave processes the method of mathematical modeling of non-sinusoidal signals transmission to the uniform two-wire distributed parameters line is provided. The mathematical model is based on the well-known line differential equations (telegraph equations) using Fourier series. The power line is a three-wire line. The paper presents an algorithm to bring the power line equations to the form of two-wire line equations. To assess the correctness of the mathematical model the research was carried out on the physical model of the line. Using the mathematical model there were given the findings of distributed parameters circuits various modes. The proposed method of mathematical modeling of different shape signals transmission to the distributed parameters line adequately reflects the phenomena occurring in the line and can be used for the analysis of electromagnetic processes both in the overhead system and power lines. -
